Contrary to the questionable job figures widely reported by the government and newspapers, present and future job losses in both the manufacturing and service industries based in the U.S. appear to be stagnant at best. Not to imply that protectionism is a solution to the present economic problems in the U.S., does anyone pay attention to the country of origin (for the sake of this discussion, defined as the country where the company's headquarters is located) when you make large purchases (appliances and cars for example)? Or do you shop primarily with an eye on price?
