America: Triptik 1–Northwestern Michigan

This is a new series of Triptik blogs inspired by my friend Sam and his beautiful C6 Corvette Convertible. Since Sam inspired this new set of blogs, here’s an unpaid plug for his professional audio company: I highly recommend them! Check them out: Signature Audio Services
During spring, summer, fall, and in certain locations, even winter, we’re all inspired to get out on the road and take a long weekend blast through the countryside. Going back through my trip logs from the roads I’ve driven in a variety of countries, I’ll put together a series of recommended road trip courses. The common thread:
1) Roads: Two lane back country roads with lots of twisties, speed and elevation changes.
2) Sightseeing: Throughout the road course, interesting sights to see. Whether national parks, interesting homes and gardens, fun towns and cities, and the need to see amazing sights such as the “worlds largest ball of yarn.”
How to Find the Course and Navigate
Many of these routes and roads don’t appear on standard issue maps, so you’ll need to use a trip planning software package with the coordinates, roads and cities/towns that I’ll supply or a detailed local map. The free software that I use, and one in which you can plug in GPS and navigation coordinates directly, is Google Earth or Google Maps. For members of AAA, they offer triptik services.
